D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium air-hardening tool steel known for exceptional wear resistance, high hardness, and good dimensional stability. It is widely used for cutting, stamping, and forming dies, especially where abrasive wear is a concern.
D2 can be hardened to 58-62 HRC and maintains toughness for most medium-duty applications. Its high chromium content gives good corrosion resistance compared to other high-carbon steels, making it suitable for cold work tooling, shear blades, and punches.
Note: Values are in accordance with EN 10088 specifications. Actual mill certs available upon request.
