329s a high-strength duplex stainless steel with a mixed microstructure of approximately 55–75% ferrite and 25–45% austenite.

It offers excellent resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. Compared to conventional 316-type stainless steels, S32900 provides significantly higher strength (roughly double the yield strength) while maintaining good corrosion resistance in marine and chemical environments.

Due to its improved machinability and strength, it is commonly used for shafts, pump components, fasteners, and marine hardware.
