S31803 (commonly known as 2205 duplex stainless steel) is a dual-phase stainless steel with approximately equal parts ferrite and austenite, combining the strength of ferritic stainless steels with the corrosion resistance of austenitic grades.

It offers excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking, particularly in chloride-containing environments.

Its higher strength compared to 304/316 stainless steels allows for thinner-walled components, and it is widely used in chemical processing, marine applications, and oil & gas equipment.
