Aluminium 5251 is a medium‑strength, non‑heat‑treatable alloy in the 5xxx series. It combines good formability and weldability with excellent corrosion resistance, especially in marine and atmospheric environments.
Alloy 5251 is frequently used for pressed or formed components and applications requiring good fatigue performance and general corrosion resistance.
It is typically supplied to general aerospace/engineering standards such as BS/EN specifications rather than aerospace AMS grades, and is commonly used in sheet, plate, and fabricated structures.
Specifications:
- BS N6 – UK/BS designation for 5251 sheet and plate
- ASTM B209 / ASTM B221 – General aluminium alloy sheet/plate and extrusions
5251 does not have a dedicated AMS specification but is often supplied to general
aerospace/engineering standards.
Note: Values are in accordance with EN 10088 specifications. Actual mill certs available upon request.
